Hey girl! Let's talk about one of the most important parts of maintaining your hair: THE WASH! It's so important to properly wash your hair in order to prevent the buildup of products and also add moisture back into the hair! We recommend weekly or bi-weekly washes in order to avoid build-up. Just like your real hair, product buildup will cause the hair to look dull, feel dry, and even begin to tangle. And like we always say, raw hair is not chemically processed and behaves just like your real hair, it needs moisture too. But since it is no longer attached to the scalp, it is your job to add the moisture back! So, let's get into the steps for a proper wash girl.

1. First things first, we do not recommend the use of alcohol-based products or products containing sulfates, parabens, or other harsh chemicals. These can further dry the hair out and strip its moisture.

2. Start your wash by thoroughly wetting your hair in lukewarm water.

3. Next, you will apply your shampoo. When shampooing, do not massage the hair or allow it to bunch/ball up, as this may cause tangling. Instead, apply your shampoo and run your hand down the length of the hair to create a lather. You may gently rub the shampoo into the hair to help create a lather. Use your fingers to gently detangle and disperse the shampoo throughout the strands. Do not brush/comb the hair during the shampoo stage.

4. Thoroughly rinse the hair with lukewarm water. Repeat the shampoo/rinse process if needed.

5. Now it's time to add the moisture back by conditioning the hair. Apply a generous amount of conditioner to the hair. Run your hand down the length of the hair to begin dispersing the conditioner throughout the hair. Using your fingers or a detangling brush, begin at the ends of the hair and work your way up, detangling and dispersing the conditioner throughout the hair.

6. Let your conditioner sit for a minimum of 30 minutes to deep condition. If you do not have 30 minutes, we recommend you let the conditioner sit for at least 10 minutes before rinsing.

7. Rinse the conditioner out of your hair using cool water. We do not recommend the use of leave-in conditioners, as this may weigh the hair down.

8. Allow hair to air dry for best results. If it is curly hair, you may apply your curl-enhancing products after rinsing, then allow the curls to air dry without any manipulation.
