Styling curly and wavy hair

Hey girl! Let's talk about getting those curls and waves to POP!

When styling your curls you always want to work with wet hair. Never try to detangle/brush through dry curls. It is okay to use your fingers to separate your curls once they dry, for more volume.

We recommend working in sections (at least 4) to get the best results. Once you have thoroughly saturated your section of the curly hair, a light curling cream/gel can be applied. Mousse/foaming lotion may also be used. Make sure the product is evenly applied and distributed over the section of hair. The type of product you use will be based on the look you're going for. Creams will give you soft, defined curls. Gels will give more definition for a tighter-looking curl and will also prevent frizz longer. Mousse/foaming lotion will also give tighter curls with a stronger hold. Make sure you check out our post on recommended products!

Once your product is applied, use a Denman brush to help disperse the product and start enhancing the curls. Start at the ends of the hair and work your way up. Once you can brush through the section of hair from top to bottom, use your hand to scrunch the curls and help them form. If you like the tight ringlets on the end, brush the section from top to bottom, and use an upward curling motion when you get to the ends of the hair (https://www.instagram.com/p/CzypVWLOeMm/). Do not scrunch the curls after this.

When you have defined the section to your liking, leave it to air dry and repeat on the other sections until all of the hair has been defined. Allow your hair to fully air dry before fluffing or separating curls. This helps prevent friziness.

Wavy hair does not need curling creams or gels. Water alone will activate the waves, and a small amount of mousse can be applied afterwards for extra definition. Spray your wavy hair with water in a spray bottle and brush through the hair, starting from the bottom and working your way up. Next, use your hands to scrunch the hair and help the waves form. You may add a small amount of mousse to your hands during the scrunching process to help with defining the waves. A small amount of a light serum or heat protectant can also be added for shine. Allow the hair to fully air dry for the best results.

For the most part, your curly and wavy hair can be refreshed daily using a spray bottle filled with water. We don't recommend daily or heavy application of products and oils, as this may lead to buildup and tangling of the hair.

We hope this helps girl, and as always, if you have any questions let us know!
